Long Hollow filling up

Water, now several feet deep, sits behind Long Hollow Dam on Monday south of Redmesa. The dam, dedicated in October 2014, is adjacent to La Plata Highway (Colorado Highway 140), about four miles north of the New Mexico border. The reservoir will store 5,300 acre-feet of water from Long Hollow Creek and Government Draw to support irrigators and help Colorado meet its obligation to share La Plata River water with New Mexico.
