Skyhawks share sweep

Raica, Rios recognized by RMAC
Fort Lewis College junior pitcher Kiley Raica picked up her fourth and fifth wins of the season last weekend against Chadron State, and she was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Week.

The Skyhawks fell one game shy of a four-game sweep, but the team picked up a different kind of sweep Tuesday.

Kiley Raica and Jeovonna Rios swept the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference softball player of the week awards. The two juniors at Fort Lewis College helped send FLC (11-12, 9-3 RMAC) to three wins in four games against Chadron State last weekend.

Rios was the RMAC Player of the Week after going 6-for-12 at the plate with three home runs, 10 runs batted in and five runs scored. To go with her .500 batting average for the weekend, she had a 1.333 slugging percentage.

Rios is hitting for a .459 average in 22 games this season. She has six home runs, 29 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

Raica, who was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Week, won both games she pitched in the circle, both complete-game efforts. Her earned-run average was 2.00. She struck out nine batters and gave up 13 hits in the two games. She now is 5-4 this season with a 4.69 ERA. She has seven complete games and 33 strikeouts to 31 walks.

The Skyhawks are 7-1 at home and will host UC-Colorado Springs and Regis this weekend in pod play at Aspen Field on the FLC campus.
