Marijuana use impedes success in life

It’s been really evident to me since its legalization that marijuana is a huge issue that has negative effects on citizens. I have personally seen the long-term effects of consuming marijuana – not just at the high-school level, but also with adults who now can consume marijuana legally.

I used to be a guy who hung out with the stoner group, and now, being a senior in high school, most of those people I used to hang out with dropped out and are not doing much with their lives. According to drugfree.org, 31.4 percent of dropouts use drugs, and 27.3 percent of dropouts smoke marijuana. I’ve seen adults smoke around children; they just pull out a pipe like it’s nothing, and it’s teaching children that doing this type of thing is OK.

But yet, 84 percent of private employers conduct pre-employment testing. Do you think employers are going to hire a marijuana smoker?

Overall, smoking marijuana seems to be contradictory to succeeding in life. It’s really disappointing to me, what I’ve seen marijuana do to people, especially when you can clearly see that they have potential to do something great.
