In response to Olin Kane’s letter (Herald, March 16), New Mexico has absolutely no reason to help pay for an expansion of the airport. Sure people from Farmington use the Durango airport, but people from Bayfield and Durango use the Albuquerque airport. If the Albuquerque airport were to expand, do you think Colorado residents should pay taxes to help with that? The answer is no. If we were to try to get New Mexico to help pay for the possible expansion of our airport, it would become a federal issue since there is a conflict across state lines. Making New Mexico help pay for an expansion of our airport will never happen.
