PEORIA, Ariz. – Colorado Rockies right fielder Carlos Gonzalez left a spring training game with pain in his surgically repaired left knee.
Gonzalez exited in the middle of the fourth inning Friday night against San Diego and walked to the clubhouse with a trainer. A team official said Gonzalez felt discomfort while catching Will Middlebrooks’ fly ball an inning earlier.
A two-time All-Star, Gonzalez has been plagued by injuries. He has played in only 180 of a possible 324 games the past two seasons. Gonzalez underwent season-ending surgery in August to repair the patella tendon.
Gonzalez had an RBI groundout and struck out swinging in his two at-bats. He’s hitting .333 this spring.
