Man in burglary could erase criminal record

A Durango man, who with a companion broke into the Dunn Deal Thrift Store under cover of night in February and walked into the waiting arms of police as they left, has a chance to erase the incident from his record.

Christopher Casey pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary Thursday in Judge Jeffrey Wilson’s 6th Judicial District courtroom.

He is due in court again May 21, at which time details of what Casey must do to erase the incident from his record will be revealed. He is represented by David Greenberg.

Police think Casey, 29, or Taylor Chriswell, 24, the other man suspected in the thrift-store incident, may have had a key from the store.

Police were tipped to the presence of two men in the store by a person in the north City Market parking lot who saw them enter.

The suspected intruders were arrested and charged with second-degree burglary.
