The driver of a Ford pickup was charged with driving while intoxicated and a hit-and-run, according to officer Dave Smith of the Durango Police Department. The driver, trying to navigate the hairpin turns on Rim Drive, lost control and crashed through a fence between the fifth green and sixth tee box at Hillcrest Golf Club. He ended up straddling the golf cart path with his two front tires in the rough. The driver tried to flee the scene.
