Road work to resume on Colorado Highway 3

Traffic delays expected for rock mitigation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday
Jorge Davila, with TK Construction, works on netting about 50 feet above Colorado Highway 3 in December. The cable netting has been put in place to catch and slow falling rocks. Further work will occur beginning Monday.

The south end of Colorado Highway 3 will be down to one lane for six hours Monday while crews complete rockfall mitigation work.

Work on the highway is expected to continue through Friday, the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a news release.

TK Construction will place additional cable nets on the rocky slope above the highway. Crews also will install lane striping on the highway.

The work will be done 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day between Sawmill Road and the U.S. Highway 550/160 intersection.

Minor delays are expected while traffic alternates between directions, CDOT said.

The Carbon Junction Trailhead and parking area will be open during construction.
