Seeking to serve LPEA with integrity

I have been an owner/broker at The Wells Group Real Estate Brokerage for 30 years. I am running for the LPEA board of directors District 3; it was an easy decision to make because I care about our cooperative, my community and I have the business experience to move the cooperative in a direction of a highly functional board and will give great representation. I will bring my business background, board experience and personal ethics to the La Plata Electric Association board. The board needs to focus on bylaw compliance, code of ethics and both price and reliability when discussing delivery of electricity.

I would like to see the board consider reasonable uses of new and emerging power supplies and technologies; see a separate code of ethics for the board of directors and more transparencies with the website. I will be responsive to all members of the cooperative and represent the cooperative honestly and with sincere integrity. I have been a LPEA member for more than 30 years. I have extensive board experience and served on many boards. In my spare time, I work with La Plata County Search and Rescue, I am a reserve officer for the Durango Police Department, and I raise and train nationally recognized working stock dogs. I’ve raised two children with my lovely wife, Daryl. We’ve made Durango home our since 1981.

I look forward to representing you on the LPEA board.

Jim Wotkyns
