Padres jump out early, rout Rockies

Colorado manager Walt Weiss’ reaction said it all during Monday’s 14-3 loss to San Diego in Denver.

DENVER – Matt Kemp had three hits and four runs batted in and the San Diego Padres scored nine runs in the first two innings of a 14-3 rout of the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.

Derek Norris had three of San Diego’s 17 hits, Will Venable homered and Odrisamer Despaigne got his first major league hit to help the Padres win for the fifth time in six games.

For the second time this season, every Padres starter got a hit, including Despaigne (2-0), who led off the third with a single. It was more than enough for the Cuban right-hander, who allowed just two runs on six hits in 6 2-3 innings

Rockies starter Jorge De La Rosa struggled in his 2015 debut, lasting two innings. The left-hander missed the first two weeks of the season with a left groin strain and was activated from the disabled list before the game.
