Verizon Wireless will waive charges on Nepalese calls

In response to the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on Saturday, Verizon Wireless will waive charges for long-distance calls and text messages from the U.S. to Nepalese numbers through May 31.

In addition, Verizon will waive charges for calls, text messages or multimedia messages sent from Nepalese numbers to Verizon customers located in the United States.

Verizon also will allow customers to make a $10 donation to qualifying nonprofit organizations, including World Vision, by texting NEPAL to 777444, and The Red Cross, by texting REDCROSS to 90999. Text-messaging fees will be waived.
