Community rallied when fire struck

Thanks from the Caldwell family!

I know we are going to miss someone, and if we do, we apologize. We recently had a fire in our house on Forest Avenue.

First, we want and need to thank our amazing first responders: the firefighters who worked so hard and fast to save the house, the police who helped keep us calm and warm. We wish we knew all the names, and we are sorry we don’t.

Thanks to the fire chief who called Red Cross to get us somewhere to go that night (morning).

Thanks to the Red Cross – an amazing organization that got us a place to stay, medications refilled, eyeglasses replaced, a friendly stuffed bear for our daughter and provided emergency clothing and any immediate needs.

Thanks to the hotel staff who went above and beyond checking us in that morning and providing extra comforts such as fruit, popcorn and movies.

We have received such amazing support from this community, we are in awe.

Thank you to the neighbors who have kept an eye on the house and provided a generator to keep a freezer going until we got power restored, all the well-wishes we have received in the mail, as well as on the streets, and to whomever started the “Christmas Man” fund at Wells Fargo, we just can’t thank everyone enough. We want everyone to know the Christmas Man and the decorations will be back next year in full force!
