Weather advisory comes and goes

Could be a wet weekend, though

A significant weather advisory came and went quickly Wednesday evening.

“There was a possibility for small hailstones and winds up to 50 mph,” said Ellen Hefferan, a meteorologist with the Grand Junction office of the National Weather Service. “It was mostly north of your area, kind of north of a line between (Durango) and Cortez.”

Did any area experience the hail and wind gusts?

“We haven’t had any reports,” she said shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday, just after the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration advisory expired.

We may not have seen the last of the wet weather yet, and winter may make a brief encore over the weekend.

While there’s only a 10 percent chance of precipitation Thursday, the odds go up starting Friday, with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms Friday night and a slight chance of rain mixed with snow Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Some thunder may occur with the storms.
