Memorial Day events planned around the region

Blue Star Mothers of Durango replaced the flags honoring those who have served in the Armed Forces on Saturday at Greemount Cemetery ahead of Memorial Day. Residents will have many opportunities to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military at many Memorial Day activities held throughout La Plata County on Monday.

7 a.m. Main Avenue flag placement by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

10 a.m. Durango Vietnam Memorial Ceremony in Iris Park.

10 a.m. A Day of Remembrance at the Southern Ute Veterans Memorial Park in Ignacio.

11 a.m. Memorial Day service at the Allison-Tiffany Cemetery, County Road 329, 883-2451.

11 a.m. The Greenmount Veterans Memorial Ceremony in Greenmount Cemetery.

Noon: Wreath ceremony on the Ninth Street Bridge.

1 p.m. Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion open house activities.
