Short Films Workshop, 4 p.m., how to make, schedule, budget shorts and turn one into a feature with Rich Heinrich, free, downstairs at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

Filmmakers Party, 5 p.m. Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave., open to the public, 21 or older, music, snacks, cash bar.

Saturday

Backcountry Experience Reception, 5-7 p.m., open to the public, refreshments, Backcountry Experience, 1205 Camino Del Rio.

Film Distribution Panel, 3 p.m., free, with distributor Mike Katchman of Rivercoast Films Distribution and local filmmaker Justin Hunt, Jean-Pierre Bakery & Wine Bar, 601 Main Ave.
