County seeking input on purchasing policies
La Plata County commissioners are seeking public input on local and environmental purchasing policies through an online survey.

The county offers a 2 percent preference to local businesses for goods and services, as well as a 2 percent preference for environmentally sensitive products and services.

To take the survey, visit http://co.laplata.co.us/admin/localprefenvironpref_survey.htm. Surveys must be completed by July 31.

City starts enforcing new news rack code
The Durango City Council recently passed a new city code for news racks along Main Avenue that governs the location, appearance and permit requirements. The code applies to all news racks. Nonpermitted news boxes are being removed from downtown.

A limited number of news rack permits are available for each block at $30 per permit. These boxes are available by calling Code Enforcement at 375-4930.

Bayfield High School to host class reunion
The classes of 1968 and 1969 will host a reunion for all classmates of Bayfield High School from 1967 to 1970 at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at the picnic area of the Pine River Lodge at Vallecito Lake.

A meet-and-greet will take place Sept. 18 and a get-together for sharing pictures, memories and more will be held Sept. 19, followed by a dinner.
