Paul A. Buchanan

Former Ignacio resident Paul A. Buchanan died in Brazoria, Texas, on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. He was 86.

  Mr. Buchanan was born to Fitch Hugh Lee and Sarah Eliz­abeth Adams Buchanan in Anadarko, Okla., on Aug. 29, 1922. He moved to Chickasha, Okla., as a teenager.

  Mr. Buchanan entered the Army and was stationed in Maryland. He met Margarete Kuhfuss there, and the couple married on April 29, 1942. They moved to Chickasha and lived there until 1962, when they moved to California.

  Mr. Buchanan was a real es­tate broker. The Buchanans lived in Ignacio from 2001 to 2002. They eventually settled in Texas. Mr. Buchanan was preceded in death by his son Arthur Thomas Buchanan.

  He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margarete L. Buchanan, of Brazoria; son, Karl Buchanan, of Yucca Val­ley, Calif.; daughter, Sarah Mong, of Brazoria; sisters Myrtie Crumm of Chickasha and Elsie Hall of Crescent, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

  A funeral will be held at 11 a. m. today, June 27, 2009, at the McRay Funeral Home Chapel, 110 S. 8th in Chick­asha.
