Air Academy awaits DHS in first round Wednesday
The Durango High School soccer team (7-7-1 overall, 7-21 Southwestern League) drew the No. 20 seed in the 32-team state championship bracket announced by CHSAA on Sunday. DHS will travel to face Air Academy on Wednesday in what is expected to be a snowy game. Their opponents finished third in the difficult Colorado Springs Metro League while featuring two of the state’s top goal scorers in Geno Bigelow with 18 and Mark Dotseth with 14 and 20 assists.
Bigelow, a national team player in his age group, suffered an injury last week against Palmer and may not play, said DHS coach Scott Emrich.
