DeAndre Lansdowne is ready to play basketball.

The junior guard at Fort Lewis College warmed up for the 2009-10 season with 28 points in just 25 minutes of court time in the Skyhawks' 75-65 exhibition victory against Division I Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Ariz., on Friday night.

Lansdowne, the RMAC Preseason Player of the Year, was 10-for-13 from the floor, 7-for-7 from the free throw line, and he added six rebounds.

"He was so much better than anybody else on the floor," FLC men's basketball coach Bob Hofman said.

Hofman started Matt Morris, Daniel Steffensen, Matt Billups, Kyle Behrens and Lansdowne.

Hofman said 13 Skyhawks played, and none less than four minutes. Nine players received at least 10 minutes of playing time.

"We got a lot of minutes for everybody," Hofman said.

David Kanyinda, a junior transfer, was 7-for-7 from the floor and scored 19 points in 17 minutes off the bench.

Steffensen scored 11 points, and Behrens had nine points and 12 rebounds.

"It was a good effort," Hofman said. "The good news is: We won the game. The bad news is: It was an exhibition, and we don't get to count it toward our final record." Fort Lewis will host an alumni game Nov. 14 at Whalen Gymnasium on the FLC campus, its final exhibition before its regular-season starts Nov. 20.
