Jim Sojourner has been with the Durango Herald since 2011, serving first as a sports intern before being hired on as a sports writer. Before joining the Herald he worked as a reporter, photographer and social media coordinator for the Trinidad Chronicle-News. While earning his degree in journalism at Colorado State University, he also spent more than three years working as a reporter, columnist and editor at his collegiate paper, The Rocky Mountain Collegian, which is Colorado's only student-run daily newspaper. He graduated from Colorado State in 2011. Sojourner has received numerous awards – including as managing editor when the Collegian was named one of the top-three student newspapers in the country – from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Hearst Foundation, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the Colorado Press Association.
