A brush fire behind Folsom Park in Durango broke out Sunday afternoon, consuming a shed before it was quickly extinguished by the Durango Fire Protection District.

Around 5 p.m., a brush fire started behind the baseball field of the park and worked its way up the abutting ridgeline toward homes on Riverview Drive.

Battalion Chief Rod Allen said the fire consumed a shed, but because of a speedy response time, residents on the above ridgeline did not require evacuation.

Allen said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
