100 years ago: The La Plata County Jail was becoming “thickly populated,” according to Sheriff Alexander.

50 years ago: Sixty paintings and art objects were donated to the area’s first full-scale art show and auction by Fort Lewis College faculty and students on campus with more promised by the well-known artist members of the Durango Arts Association.

25 years ago: A 14-year-old girl was in a sledding accident at Miller Middle School. She was taken to Mercy Medical Center and treated for a severe neck strain.
