100 years ago: The “House public lands committee” authorized Congressman Edward T. Taylor to make a “report upon his bill to correct title to Durango city reservoir and drainage basin.”

75 years ago: Durango and Cortez high school basketball teams went head to head in the Smiley High gym, and the DHS Demons won, 22-21.

50 years ago: Gov. Mark Hogan, who was “taking care of Colorado” while Gov. John Love visited Grenoble, France, was in Durango with his wife and several other state representatives to hit the slopes at Purgatory.

25 years ago: A 35-year-old California man, driving without headlights and with a revoked license, was cited for drunken driving in Bodo Heights.
