100 years ago: The grocery and meat firms in Durango were “putting forth no effort to advertise the town.”

75 years ago: Virginia Stubbs of Durango was initiated March 2 into Tan chapter of Gamma Phi Beta sorority at Colorado State College at Fort Collins, where she was a student.

50 years ago: Durango High School students elected a mayor and four city council members to govern on Rotary Club Student Government Day.

25 years ago: Crews were working 12 hours a day, seven days a week on the city’s new $2.4 million sewer main.
