LaPlata Liberty Coalition names three to serve on its board

The LaPlata Liberty Coalition, a citizen-organized group that formed after the county released its draft of the updated land-use codes, has elected three board members.

According to a news release, the coalition intends to have on its board a representative from each of the 12 planning districts in the county. The coalition said it will work to involve citizens in issues that “affect them and the future of La Plata County,” the release stated. New board members are:

Lew Webb, a La Plata County resident for 18 years. He and his wife, Laura, own and manage the Retreat at Thunder Ridge. Webb had previously worked in the automotive and heavy equipment business He lives in the Florida Mesa district.Dave Peters worked in international oil and gas operations for 17 years. After retiring in 2008, he moved from Thailand to Durango. During his time with Chevron in Thailand he became involved in social responsibility programs, helping communities in South East Asia. Peters has been the treasurer and director of the Durango Lion’s Club, a member of the La Plata County Ethics Watch Organization, and he serves on the board of the nonprofit Shanta Foundation. He lives in the Durango district.Amber Pedigo was born and raised in La Plata County. She owned her own business in Durango for four years, and her family owned a tire store in Durango for more than 30 years. Pedigo directed the Snowdown Follies for seven years and has been actively involved in local political issues for the last decade. She works at Southwest Ag. She also is oversees member communications for the coalition. She lives in the Bayfield district.For more information about the coalition, visit
