Durango Youth Soccer Association recently hired Douglas Ewing as its new director of goalkeeping.
Ewing holds a psychology undergraduate degree and master’s degree in education from Drake University, and started coaching soccer in 1988 at East High School in Sioux City, Iowa.
From 1992 to 1997, he coached boys and girls teams at Lincoln High School, Iowa Olympic Development Program and West Des Moines Soccer Club in Des Moines, Iowa. Ewing was then appointed goalkeeper coach in 1998 for Drake University college teams and a professional team, called Des Moines Menace. In 2000, he was hired as goalkeeper coach for the Arizona Sahuaros, a men’s professional team, and was part of the Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club coaching staff from 2002 to 2014. He moved to Durango in 2015 and coached with Fort Lewis College and the Youth Soccer Association.
