DHS girls golfers 7th at Montrose

After a heavy slate of indoor practices, the Durango High School girls golf team completed its second full round of golf in as many days at The Bridges golf course in Montrose.

"It went OK, especially since this is a tough course and the girls really haven't had the
chance to practice with all the snowbanks outside," Demons coach Dan Zalbowitz said.

"The girls kept a real positive attitude."

Amanda Peterson, Sarah Gaughan and Ashley Roulstin combined for a seventh-place score of 341

Montrose won its tournament with 280.

For the second consecutive tournament, sophomore Loren Forney of Rifle was medalist with
6-over par 71.

Peterson led the Demons with 111, and Gaughan was one stroke back at 112. Roulstin shot a

"It was a lot of fun," said Zalbowitz, the Demons' first-year coach. "This is a great group, and it was a very successful first two tournaments.

"Given the circumstances, all of the girls kept a good, positive attitude."

Durango plays next Monday at Grand Junction.
