District 9-R announces administration hoursDurango School District 9-R will have limited hours during the summer starting Monday.
The administration building, 201 E. 12th St., will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
Education center to offer math GED session in JuneThe Durango Adult Education Center will offer a math GED intensive session from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. from Monday to June 30.
Classes will cover basic algebra, geometry, probability, fractions, decimals and percentages.
Classes offer small group instruction, weekly assessments to chart progress, practice tests and test-taking tips. A free daily lunch will be provided.
The math GED test will be offered July 1.

District 9-R to hold meeting about mill levyDurango School District 9-R is seeking parents and members of the community willing to work on the district’s effort to seek additional local revenue through a mill levy.
There will be a meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the board room at the administration building, 201 E. 12th St.
Garden Project to run camps at Needham in JulyThe Garden Project of Southwest Colorado will offer Junior Gardeners Summer Camp.
The outdoor summer camp will include weekly local guest experts covering topics from gardening, cooking, pollinators, compost, art and more.
Session 1 will be held July 11-15, Session 2 July 18-22 and Session 3 July 25-29.
The camp will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Needham Elementary School Garden.
Cost is $200 per week. Unlimited scholarships are available.

Fort Lewis Mesa to hold end-of-the-year picnicFort Lewis Mesa Elementary School invites students and their families to a picnic from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Old Fort.
The celebration will include a picnic and games. Lunch will be available for purchase.

To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a GPA of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during the course of their college career.
Tyllor Ledford receives P.E.O. scholarshipP.E.O. Chapter BR awarded Tyllor Ledford a scholarship in the amount of $1,250 in recognition of Ledford’s academic and leadership achievements.
Ledford is a 2016 graduate of Durango High School and will attend Texas Tech University in the fall.
P.E.O. is a philanthropic organization where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and stewardship of Cottey College; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.
