Seniors Outdoors announces activitiesSeniors Outdoors is planning multiple outdoor activities for the coming week.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday, there will be a 3-mile hike with a 1,100-foot total elevation gain along West Lime Creek to view multiple waterfalls. The group will meet at Purgatory Resort. Participants may also have the option of meeting at the Durango Recreation Center at 8:30 a.m. and carpooling for a fee of $6. Dogs are only allowed if leashed, and an RSVP is required for non-members only. For more information or to RSVP, contact Tricia Bayless at 799-4535 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Also on Wednesday, an 8.4-mile hike to Columbine Lake will be offered. It is roughly 5 miles outside of Silverton. This is a 5-6 hour hike, rated difficult, to a high alpine lake. The total elevation gain is 2,460 feet. Dogs are allowed if under voice control. Carpool is $6. Please RSVP to Steve Krest at 588-3806 or email@example.com for meeting times and locations. On Friday there will be a climb to Engineer Mountain, starting from Coal Bank Pass on Highway 550. The first 2 miles of the hike follow a trail in good condition, but the last mile involves a very steep, loose section and one difficult spot with height exposure. There will be plenty of hand-holding and moral support, so for individuals who have not climbed Engineer Mountain and would like to, this is a good opportunity. No dogs allowed. Carpooling is $4 and the group size limit is 10. Please RSVP to Lynn Coburn at 247-0914 or firstname.lastname@example.org for meeting times and locations.
