Alumni are invited to an alumni gathering at Santa Rita Park from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Students from the classes of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 as well as Animas High School faculty and staff members are invited.
Alumni Ian Bowers, Heidi Williams and Bryce Ward are organizing the event.
The third annual Animas River Trip and Family Picnic will begin at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Mild to Wild. New and returning students, parents, faculty, staff members and alumni are all invited to float the Animas in paddle rafts led by professional guides.
Mild to Wild is offering a reduced rate of $22 per person for the trip. To register, visit http://bit.ly/29aCeiO.
After the river trip, there will be a potluck picnic at Pioneer Park, beginning at 6 p.m. Last names A-H should bring a main dish, I-R a salad and S-Z a dessert.

The Feathering the Nest Campus Clean-Up will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6. All AHS students, staff members, families, alumni and supporters are invited to work together to make the AHS campus a beautiful, safe and clean space.

Local students achieve academic successDurango resident Erin Ganley made the dean’s list at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California.
Ganley, a communication studies major, was honored for having a 3.5 or better GPA during the spring semester.
Joss Sitter of Durango made the dean’s list at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, during the spring 2016 semester.
Dean’s list honors at Tufts require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.
Keenan Moreta of Bayfield graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College during a May ceremony on the Buckhannon campus.
