After narrowly missing out on advancing to the NCAA Division II Golf Championships as an individual, Fort Lewis College
golfer David Schroeder received a consolation prize Friday when he was named one of 12 golfers to the Division II PING
All-Central Region Team.
Schroeder finished in a tie for ninth at the Central/West Regional, one stroke behind the two golfers who advanced as
individuals to the championships. He preceded that with a fifth-place finish at the Rocky Mountain Athletic
Conference Spring Championships, firing a 2-over 218 to help the Skyhawks to a third-place finish.
One of those two individuals, Jon Klingensmith of Colorado Christian, was also named to the team. Ten of the 12
golfers were members of the RMAC.
Three Western New Mexico golfers made the list: Scott Crichton, Eric Chavez and Gordon Webb. The trio helped WNMU to
a seventh-place tie at nationals and a team win at the RMAC Spring Championships.
UC-Colorado Springs placed the most players on the team with five after finishing second in the RMAC tournament.
