Durango Youth Football Cheer Program is currently accepting open registration. Participants will cheer in the fall.

Florida Road water docking station to close
The city of Durango will permanently close the coin-operated water docking station located on Florida Road on Monday.
The station will be relocated to 550 South Camino del Rio off the frontage road north of the Durango Mall.
Construction on the new station is expected to begin in the next few weeks. During the station closures, patrons can
use the water docking stations in Ignacio or Bayfield. For more information, call 375-4800.
Benefit for women's center to be held today
Signature Salon and Health Spa and Blu will host a benefit for the Women's Resource Center titled "Appetit!" from
noon to 3 p.m. today at the salon, 1521 Main Ave. The event will feature a fashion show, mini spa treatments, appetizers and cocktails. The cost is $20 per person, and 50 percent of the proceeds benefit the center. For more

Memorial Day events announced
These events will be held in observance of Memorial Day:
Saturday: Flag placement will be held at 9 a.m. at Greenmount Cemetery. Volunteers are welcome and should meet at
the American Legion Memorial in the cemetery and bring a long-handled screwdriver.
May 31: Main Avenue flag placement will be held at 7 a.m. Durango Vietnam Memorial Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m.
Greenmount Veterans Memorial Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Wreath Ceremony will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the Ninth
Street Bridge. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Open House will be held at 1 p.m. American Legion Open House will be held
at noon; a musical performance by Taska and Ken will take place at 2 p.m.

Durango announces road closures, construction
The city of Durango announces the following road construction projects for this week:
Reconstruction of Florida Road between East Third Avenue and East Animas Road.
Highland Avenue from Kearney Place to Crestview Drive and Kearney Place from Glenisle Avenue to Highland Avenue will
be open to local traffic only through June 11 for a waterline replacement.
College Drive from Narrow Gauge to Camino del Rio westbound will be closed for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Tour
Race from 6 to 9 a.m. Saturday. College Drive from Camino del Rio eastbound to Narrow Gauge will be restricted to one
lane. Northbound U.S. Highway 550 from Durango High School to Iron Horse Inn, all traffic is asked to remain in the
left lane. At Animas View Drive and U.S. Highway 550 north, all traffic is restricted to left lane only.
The Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Criterium Race will be held from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 30.
No parking or traffic will be allowed on: 800, 900 and 1,000 blocks of Main Avenue; west 100 block of Ninth and 10th
streets; east 100 blocks of Eighth, Ninth, 10th streets; east 200 blocks of Seventh, Eighth and Ninth streets and the
700 block of East Third Avenue.
Workshop on accessory dwelling units Wednesday
The city of Durango will host a public workshop on accessory dwelling units from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the
Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
The city will talk about alternative forms of dwelling units, their potential impacts on neighborhoods and ways those
impacts can be addressed through regulation.
Participants will be polled to give feedback about whether the units should be allowed in their neighborhoods and, if
so, whether regulations should be applied to address the potential impacts of the units. The results of the polls
will be part of an informal discussion afterward.
