Downtown cleanup day will be held Friday
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will hold a downtown Durango cleanup day from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
There will be free coffee, doughnuts and T-shirts. Local businesses and organizations are asked to provide volunteers
to help clean up the downtown area.

CDOT announces new survey coordinator
The Colorado Department of Transportation, Region 5, has hired Todd Cruz Johnston as a survey coordinator for the
survey unit in the right-of-way section in Durango.
Johnston has 12 years of experience in the survey unit and five years in the private sector.
Pine River Valley Bank announces staff changes
Pine River Valley Bank announces the following internal staff promotions and changes to its executive management:
Jim Sower, current chairman of the board, will retire as chairman but continue as a board member.
Dan Ford, who has been the president and CEO of the bank for the last eight years, will be promoted to chairman of
Boyd Hodges has been promoted from executive vice president to the bank's president and CEO.
Sower and a handful of local businessmen founded the Bayfield bank in 1977. He remained the bank's president for its
first 25 years before retiring to become chairman of the board in 2002.
As chairman, Ford will take on the responsibility of managing a six-member board of directors as well as handling
stockholder and community relations.
Hodges joined the bank in August 2009. He has 26 years of experience in banking, with more than 17 serving as
president and CEO.

LPEA announces board of directors
The existing slate of officers for the board of directors of La Plata Electric Association have been retained for
2010-2011 after a vote of the directors during the May 19 board meeting.
Terry Alley will remain president of the board, with Jerry McCaw as vice president. Directors Pam Patton and Joe
Wheeling will continue as secretary and treasurer, respectively. Wheeling also will represent LPEA on the Tri-State
Generation and Transmission board. Representatives to the Colorado Rural Electric Association and Western United are
Tom Compton and Bob Formwalt, respectively.

Sustainable building day to be held June 2
The Sustainable Building Education Program will present its next session titled "An ENERGY STAR New Home from the
Ground Up" on June 2 with Larry Gorman of Green Insight.
Free sessions will be held at noon at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St. in Durango, and at 5:30 p.m.
at Pagosa Lakes Club House, 230 Port Ave. in Pagosa Springs.

Mini-grants available for employee wellness
Healthy Lifestyle La Plata and the Durango Area Wellness Network announce Durango Natural Foods and Habitat for
Humanity of La Plata County have been awarded work-site wellness mini-grants to promote employee wellness initiatives
within their work sites.
Funding for work-site wellness mini-grants is available to small businesses and organizations within La Plata County.
Grant amounts range from $500 to $2,500 depending on the number of employees. Mini- grants can be used for any
employee wellness initiative within the workplace. Applications are being accepted through June 15 for July 1 awards.
