Durango school offices announce summer hours
The Durango School District 9-R will hold the following summer hours beginning June 7:
•The central office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
•The school offices will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday
•The transportation department will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
School offices will be closed during July.
Park Elementary announces events
Park Elementary School will hold the following events:
•The annual talent show will be held from 2 to 2:45 p.m. today in the school cafe.
•The fifth grade will host "Celebration of Learning" at 1 p.m. Thursday in the school cafe. There will be presentations followed by refreshments.
Riverview to hold event to dedicate classroom
Riverview Elementary School will hold a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony of its outdoor classroom at 1:30 p.m. today.
The classroom includes native plants and trees, benches, paths, bird feeders and a solar birdbath.

Ignacio head start accepting applications
The Southern Ute Montessori Head Start in Ignacio is accepting applications for Fall 2010 enrollment.
Head Start serves children 3 to 5 years old, including children with special needs. There is no charge to qualifying families, regardless of income.
The service area for recruitment has expanded to the Bayfield area, but only inclusive to the following areas: west to County Road 509; south of U.S. Highway 160 and east to county roads 526 and 523.

Registration open for driver education
Registration for the first summer session of driver education is now open. The class will be held on four consecutive days from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and June 1 through 3 at 1715 West Second Ave. There will be 30 hours of classroom work, which will include 12 hours of defensive driving plus six hours behind the wheel.
