Showing of the movie "City of Joy" to be Friday
Centers of Light will present "City of Joy" at 7 p.m. Friday in the Animas Room at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
This event is free, and all are welcome. All donations from the night will be given to Doctors Without Borders.

Cowboy ministry planned Mondays at fairgrounds
A cowboy ministry for the whole family sponsored by Triple Cross & Heritage Ministries will begin at 4 p.m. every Monday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
Western horsemanship classes for children up to 16 years old will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a barbecue supper from 6 to 7 p.m. and music and a sermon on the mount from 7 to 7:45 p.m. Arena timed events will begin at 7:45 p.m. Participants may bring their horses.

Greek Orthodox Church to meet in Durango
The Greek Orthodox Church of the Four Corners will begin holding services in Durango.
The first Divine Liturgy in Durango will be held at 10 a.m. June 12 at the home of one of its members. There will be a potluck lunch immediately after. The Rev. Paul Patitsas from St. George Greek Orthodox in Albuquerque will be the celebrant.
All Orthodox Christians and those interested in Orthodox Christianity are invited.

Lutheran church offering 'Hospitality' series
"Hospitality" classes will be offered this month at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road, during its CtK University Hour at 10 a.m.
The Rev. John will teach "Cleaning House" on Sunday, "Empathy" on June 13, "Invitations" on June 20 and "Welcoming" on June 27.

Vacation Bible school to begin Monday
Marvel United Methodist Church, Mountain View Community Church and other community members will sponsor Vacation Bible School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday at the Mountain View Community Church, immediately north of Fort Lewis Mesa Elementary School.
The theme is "Sonlight Rainforest." Participants need to bring a sack lunch. There will be classes for preschoolers (3 years of age and older), elementary, middle school children and a teen class for high school students. There is no charge. A closing program will be held at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Guest speaker to spread message of hope
Dave Roever will speak at 6 p.m. June 13 at Victorious Life Fellowship, 2601 Junction Creek Road. His story is one of supernatural intervention and fierce determination to fulfill his destiny despite scars.
Roever's message is one of hope. He talks about solutions to problems such as drug and alcohol abuse, drinking and driving, teen pregnancy, suicide and low self-esteem.
