So what's up with prices in Durango? Our lowest gasoline price on June 2 for unleaded was $2.82, but in Denver the lowest price was $2.35, a 47-cent difference - unbelievable but true! I know we live here by choice, but c'mon already - give us a break.
Prices should be lowered across the board here to help locals and visitors alike; it could create Durango's reputation as being a pocketbook-wise destination. Tourists would want to stay longer and spend money here, not somewhere else. Do we want 100 percent of nothing or a slightly smaller percentage of something? I'd vote for something.
Also: Why not take a moment to say "Hello, welcome to Durango" to tourists you see downtown? A warm smile or greeting is free.
