On Friday, Durango Discovery Kids completed the last day of business in our special little corner of town, upstairs in
the Durango Arts Center. We are all looking forward to our move and the Discovery Museum's long-awaited opening in
As the community outreach manager for the Durango Discovery Museum and museum manager of Durango Discovery Kids, I
would like to personally thank everyone who has ever been involved with the Children's Museum of Durango/Durango
Discovery Kids. I am grateful for the time I have spent as museum manager and for all of the members and guests who
have filled my days with joy, laughter and good conversation.
I feel very lucky to have been allowed into your lives. I would also like to thank everyone who celebrated this
milestone with us Saturday at the "Who's Your Daddy" festival. Attendees enjoyed live music and entertainment, Explosive Science Minutes, a bounce house, playhouses, a sandbox, a shaded area for nursing moms, a diaper-changing
station, The Wet Zone, a dunk tank, mini-golf, Father's Day gift-making, free developmental crafts and activities, unicycle lessons, telescope viewings, panning for gold, chair massages, face painting, Kiwanis Club child ID, solar
cooking, a trebuchet, ice cream, burritos, wraps, potato salad, fruit salad, lemonade, Baja style tacos, cotton
candy, fantastic lifting drinks, root beer and, for those who chose, Carver Brewing Co. was on hand with its
award-winning brews, and Kylie from Joel's was serving up ice- cold cocktails.
This very successful and fun event benefits the Durango Discovery Museum and helps ensure the continuation of more
than a decade of quality programming for the entire family.
