Chuck Wagon Cook-Off to be held July 31
Serving for the seventh annual Chuck Wagon Cook-Off will be held at 5 p.m. July 31 at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
Sponsored by the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemens Association, the cook-off will include eight wagons. Each will prepare a top round as well as potatoes, bread, beans and dessert.
The wagons will be on display all day, and visitors are welcome. There also will be country western music.
Tickets are $15 and are available at Basin Co-Op and at the door.
Renewable generation meeting to be Aug. 5
Small and micro-hydropower renewable generation will be the focus for the La Plata Electric Associations renewable generation meeting at 9 a.m. Aug. 5 in the multipurpose/board room at 45 Stewart St.
It is free and open to all interested in learning more about generating electricity through small hydropower installations on private properties. Topics will include the small and micro-hydropower pilot rebate program, as well as information regarding installation assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Office.
The meeting may last until noon. Reservations are not required but are appreciated as refreshments will be served.

Picnic for seniors to be held in Bayfield
The annual Ol Times Picnic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 7 at Eagle Park in Bayfield.
The free picnic is open to senior citizens. Participants should bring a side dish.
