I voted for Bruce Baizel to be our next county commissioner not only because of his broad appeal to all the residents of the county, but also has unquestionable integrity. He has support from people as diverse as a Republican rancher in Marvel to an unaffiliated homeowner in Vallecito to business owners in downtown Durango, Bayfield and Ignacio.
Bruce has worked hard to earn your support, meeting with county officials, non-profit organizers and business leaders. He also has listened to county residents to ensure that he knows what our concerns are and that he addresses them effectively. Bruce will continue to work with all the stakeholders in the county when he is commissioner. He also will be a strong advocate for the county while working closely with other governmental groups, including tribal, state and federal governments.
My big concern for this race is that Bobby Lieb is trying to buy a seat on the commission. Between him and his father, they have donated $9,000 to his campaign. I dont want to see the kind of political maneuvering that exists at the national level where it is not character and reliability that win a race but who can put the most of their own money into the campaign.
In La Plata County, we need Bruce, who is dedicated to what is best for the county, who puts the good of the rural and city residents first, who understands all the issues and who listens to what the people have to say. He knows agriculture, water, oil and gas, economic partnerships, management and land-use code. Bruce has no special agenda and has the broad professional and personal experiences that make him the most qualified candidate.
Vote for a man with integrity, not because he can buy an election.
