The ladies and juniors took center stage on the links this last week at our area courses, and we’ll begin with the Dalton Ranch Golf Club Ladies Club Championship on Saturday and Sunday.
DRGC yearly crowns both a gross and net overall champion, and Cindy Bryniarski took the low gross title with a two-day score of 165, while Lih Kinoshita was the net champ with a 134.
Kiley Appleton was second gross at 174, with Dolly Turner third at 205. Jan Fleming was second net at 139, with Sheri Scarafiotti third at 147.
The Hillcrest Pro-Lady tournament was held July 26, and the team of HGC professional John Vickers and teammates Ariel Moody, Mary Kay Aigner, Laurel Waters and Macky Headrick tied the team of professional Robbie Jones and teammates Chris Henderson, Chris Woodard, Chantyll Navarre and Becky Byrd with scores of 203.
Professional Brandon Baker and his foursome of Debbie Brown, Barbara Barker, Amanda Weese and Becky McLaughlin took third at 205. For fourth place, professional Mike Henry and teammates Bryniarski, Sandie Gates, Paula Okun and June Lowrey tied professional Guy Begay, Melissa Vandiver, Laura Bonner, Kay Rogers and Cindy Cuthbert at 209.
Vickers and Cody Trujillo tied atop the Professional Division at 69, while Baker was third with a 70. Shea Sena was fourth at 71, while Jones rounded out the pro place winners with a 73.
The Hillcrest Juniors warmed up for the Monday/Tuesday Junior Club Championship with the Junior Invitational recently, and Michael Thomas took top honors in the Championship Flight of this individual stroke play event with a 2-under 69. Cory Gillespie was second at 71, followed by Garrett Ball at 75. Chris Aiken and Garrett Lynch tied for fourth at 78.
Tristin Goodman won the Boys 13-18 Flight with a 77, with Bo Ward second at 97. Ryan Aiken and Nolan Stowers tied for third at 99.
Jessica Thulson captured the Girls 13-18 Flight with an 86, followed by Madeline Tovar at 88 and Jasmine Brown at 89.
Chris Rudosky won the Boys/Girls 10-12 Flight with a nine-hole score of 43, followed by a tie between Cy Spicer and Cameron Barnhardt for second at 44.
Caleb Newman won the Boys/Girls 5-9 Nine Hole with a 44, with Gary Ulrich second at 69.
Nolan Dillon won closest to the pin honors.

The Hillcrest Women’s Golf Association Tuesday Ladies Day event July 27 was Middle Holes, and Aimee Fladt and Nancy Barr tied for low gross in the first flight, with Karen Spickard low net and Ann Emigh second net.
Wilma Sexton was low gross winner of the second flight, while Linda Allenbaugh came in second gross. Connie Voss captured low net, with Marnie Roti second net.
Joyce Capp was low gross winner in the nine-hole competition. Diane Kowalsky was low net, with Nancy Holmes second net.
Lynn Tingley was low gross champ in the second flight, while Emily Robertson, Ramona Wolfe and Doreen Thorne tied for low net.
We have some really big tournaments on the horizon this week: The Bugler (Men’s Member/Guest) from Thursday through Saturday at Dalton Ranch; the UBS Financial Services 3 Clubs and a Putter on Saturday at Hillcrest; the Hillcrest Adult/Junior Tournament on Sunday at Hillcrest; and the DRGC Junior Club Championship on Tuesday.
