Our current economic crisis is largely a psychological crisis. True, failing mortgages and cheating business leaders are real, but our reaction to mismanagement is mental. I feel that the economic stimulus will help. Putting people to work repairing infrastructure and working on energy independence will not only help repair the nation, it will add a measure of self-reliance and esteem to the national psyche.
At some point, we have to come back from economic collapse. While our government attempts to give us the impetus and tools, it is ultimately up to each one of us to make our own economic comeback. Whether working or not, we have many choices each day about how to make that day most productive. If the mindset is focused solely on the barrage of bad news, then that reality will perpetuate itself. However, if a person is focused on the solution, in essence looking for opportunity that lies in each moment, solutions will be found.
It is a good economic idea to live with a measure of care and consideration. Within each of us lies great capacity for creativity and the ability to thrive. Joel Schiavone, Durango
