Sue Bentons request (Letters, Herald, Aug. 9) that cyclists approaching pedestrians on the river trail give them a heads up is entirely reasonable.
I typically shout out bicycle when coming up from behind if Im not on a bike with a dinglebell. Saying On your left! seems to confuse many pedestrians who have to try and mentally sort out which side is which. Bicycle! is simpler, and they can simply choose what side to move over to.
