The unique results of the annual Dudley Engle Golf Tournament on Saturday at Hillcrest Golf Club had a unique champion as well. Mr. Rizzi – nobody knew his first name – from Colorado Springs won the overall tournament title.
Patty Deluzio was closest to the pin on hole No. 5. Cynthia Engle was closest to Dudley’s Tree on hole No. 10, and Patty Archuleta was furthest from the pin on the green at hole No. 15.
Hillcrest has adjusted its unlimited play and range pass fees for the remainder of the golf season. Unlimited play for the rest of the season has been reduced to $200, and the range pass for the remainder of the season is just $125.
The Ska Brewing Hillcrest Golf Club Championships will be contested Saturday and Sunday. There is $1,000 in added purse money with a $50 entry fee, and the pro shop kicked in an additional $100 to the prize purse.
The tournament is a 36-hole individual stroke play format.
Tee times begin at 7:30 both days. Gross and net prizes will be awarded.
The 30th annual Randango Golf Classic will be held Sept. 25 at the Glacier Club. The entry deadline is Sept. 14, and all entry money must be received by that date.
Proceeds from the event go toward scholarships for Durango High School student-athletes who will further their athletic endeavors in college. The field is limited to the first 100 players (25 teams).
