Kids rally to be held in Ignacio on Sept. 4
A community kids rally will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 4 at Shoshone Park in Ignacio.
Activities will include sawdust mining for money, sumo wrestling, childrens train rides, bounce house, bike race, carnival games, activity booths, face painting and more.
The rally seeks youth groups, schools, nonprofit organizations and church groups to be involved.
Organizations can set up a kids activity booth or carnival game to raise money. Booth space is free.

Pancake breakfast, parade Sept. 5
A motorcycle and classic car parade will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 5 on Main Avenue.
A pancake breakfast also will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 5 at the Durango Transit Center.
Donations from the event will benefit Building Homes for Heros, recreating the home life for soldiers who have been severely and permanently injured.

Road Runner Transit announces closures
The Road Runner Transit will be closed on Sept. 4 and 6 in observance of Labor Day.
Regular service will resume Sept. 7.

Archeology society to meet in Cortez
The Hisatsinom Chapter of the Colorado Archaeology Society will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Cortez Cultural Center, 25 N. Market St. in Cortez.
Linda Wheelbarger will provide updates about her investigations of the Point Site outside of Farmington.
The site is an ancestral Puebloan great house situated at the base of the Farmington Bluffs with the San Juan River to the north.
Wheelbarger is a professional archaeologist who has worked in the area for more than 30 years.
