The Bayfield High School baseball team battled nippy conditions again Saturday, rolling up a 21-13 victory at Salida.
The Wolverines, 2-0, built a big lead and then worked numerous players into the lineup.
"It ... turned into a scrimmage really," Bayfield head coach Ken Hibbard said. "We needed guys to get in there and play."
He said the Wolverines used five different pitchers.
"Everybody got worked in. We had 16 hits," Hibbard said.
Jared Qualls, fresh from the BHS basketball team, pitched a pair of innings. Logan Funkhouser, also from the basketball squad, homered.
Jeff Huffmyer added four hits in the BHS win.
"It was seven innings of baseball, and we needed that," Hibbard said.
The Wolverines will play in the Hotchkiss Tournament next Friday and Saturday.
