Brewed by Ska, Hillcrest Golf Club crowned its men’s and women’s club champions last weekend.
Aimee Fladt is the 2010 women’s club champion after she shot a two-day, 36-hole score of 173 in the Ska Brewing-sponsored Hillcrest Golf Club Championships.
Kermit Barrett is the men’s club champion. He shot an even-par 142 after 36 holes.
In the women’s tournament, Ariel Moody came in second gross at 181, and Ann Emigh and Kay Rogers tied for low net with 143s.
Mary Kay Aigner took low gross in the Ladies B Flight with a score of 190, with Macky Headrick second at 196. Michele Peterson was low net at 132, while Susan Weirather was runner-up at 141.
In the men’s tournament, Durango High School alumnus Devin Schreiner was second gross at 144. Schreiner’s former DHS teammate Keenan Holt, tuning up for his fall arrival to join Schreiner on the Fort Lewis College golf team, came in third at 147.
Greg Walsh shot a 155 for fourth gross. Justin Lyon was low net at 143, followed by Mark Miller at 144. John Folk and Tom Gorton tied for third net at 146.
William Holden was low gross winner of the First Flight with a 162, while Mike Balster was runner-up at 163. Rick Love and Brett Jameson tied for third at 166. Dan Zalbowitz took low net with a 140, while Alex Emmons was second at 143, Dick White third at 145 and Andy Hoff, Doug McCormick and Don Silva tied for fourth at 147.
Ray Sigwart captured the Second Flight low gross title with a 160. John Fingleton was second at 169, and Joe Gardner took third at 171 and Brian Smith fourth at 173. David Pierce was low net winner with a 138, while Mason Miller came in second at 142, Jo Warfield third at 146 and Russ Monell fourth at 147.
Mark Gaughan took low gross honors in the Third Flight with a 166, while Gary Meredith was second at 168. Steve Woolverton finished third gross at 172, with Bob Therrell fourth at 174. Larry Gaughan and Jim Howell tied for low net at 136, while Ken Ragsdell and Jerry Thomas tied for third at 143.
Steve Biery and Pat Horvat tied for low gross honors in the Fourth Flight with 176s, while Brian Dommer came in third at 172. David Peterson was fourth at 180. Mike Amato captured low net with a 137, while Bill Dent and George Morgan tied for second at 142 and Jack Duran was fourth at 147.
Todd Hitti topped the low gross side of the Fifth Flight with a 183, while Tom Breed came in second at 188. Scott Smith was third at 193, with Roy Turnell fourth at 194. Fred Atencio captured low net with a 137, while Ron Cuthbert and Darrell Owen tied for second net with 141s. George Sheridan rounded out the place winners with a fourth net score of 149.
Dalton Ranch Golf Club will host a Couples Tournament on Sunday. The field is limited to the first 48 players, or 24 couples, and play will begin at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. Call 247-8774 for sign-up information.
A reminder to all lady golfers at DRGC: The final seasonal golf day and meeting will be held Sept. 22, so circle your calendar for this season-ending event.
Also, the very popular Four Corners Stroke Play tournament will be held at Dalton Ranch on Sept. 25-26.
The Louisa’s Movie House and Electronics Fall Classic – a two-person best ball event with 90 percent handicaps and flights – will be played Sept. 11-12 at Hillcrest.
I caught a glimpse of a few trees previewing fall colors at lower elevation, so now is the time to enjoy some great golf on any of our area courses.
