100 years ago: Leonard Scott visited Durango from Monticello, Utah, on a short business trip. After selling his ranch in Hay gulch, he became a man of the sheep business.
75 years ago: The Durango Paint Co., 922 Main Ave., was destroyed by fire. Hundreds of highly flammable paint cans burned, in an event described as “a stubborn fire to fight.”
50 years ago: Police investigated a break-in at Wagon Wheel, the second in two months. The south-facing window was shattered, and beer and several half-gallons of whiskey were taken.
25 years ago: A group of people were throwing eggs at cars on the 3000 block of East Second Avenue. They were gone when police arrived.
