American Red Cross announces classes
The American Red Cross will offer these health and safety training classes at its Southwest Chapter office, 1911 Main Ave., Suite 282:
b Adult, infant and child CPR will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.
b CPR for the professional instructor will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.
b Adult, infant and child CPR will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 18.
b Adult, infant and child CPR/AED will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 23.
b Challenge any CPR or first aid certification for $35. Challenges are conducted on Mondays at the chapter. Call Nicole at 259-5383 to schedule a challenge.

AIDS benefit event to be held Nov. 6
The 14th annual Durango AIDS Benefit will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
The benefit, called Aid, Comfort and Support, will be hosted by 4CGLAD and supports AIDS advocacy and HIV awareness throughout the region.
The silent auction will take place at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. The dance portion of the evening will begin around 9 p.m.
Sponsorships are available including full table sponsorship, in-kind donations, auction items and monetary donations. Ticket prices are $50 for singles and $90 for couples. Dance party admission price is $10 after 9 p.m.

United Blood Services will hold these blood drives:
b 1 to 6 p.m. today, Tuesday and Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the United Blood Services Office, 146 Sawyer Drive in Bodo Industrial Park.
b 1:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, 515 N. Park St. in Cortez.
b 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Mancos High School in the gymnasium, 355 W. Grand Ave. in Mancos.
