Insurance, financial advisers to meet
The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors - Southwest Colorado will meet from noon to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at Christinas Grill & Bar, 21382 U.S. Highway 160.
Steve Thomas will present Savvy Social Security Retirement Planning Basics, which will be worth two hours of continuing-education credit. There will be no charge for this course for members. There will be a $20 fee for nonmembers that includes the credit and lunch.

Golf tournament fundraiser a success
Bank of the San Juans 11th annual Charity Golf Tournament was held Sept. 10 at the Dalton Ranch Country Club.
The tournament raised almost $19,000. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Durango Discovery Museum, which is slated to open this week.
Starting a business workshop to be held
The Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College will offer the Starting Your Business Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday in Program Room 1 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
Tuition is $25 for the public and $20 for chamber of commerce members. Space is limited.

The Durango Chamber of Commerce is soliciting nominations for the following awards that will be presented at the annual awards event Durango Rocks on Jan. 20: Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Nonprofit of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Green Business Leadership Award, Bill Mashaw Volunteer of the Year, Morley Ballantine Award and the Leadership La Plata Barbara Conrad Award.
