Business After Hours to feature exposition
The Durango Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours for October will feature the annual Table-Top Expo from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the DoubleTree Hotel.
The exposition will have more than 40 exhibitors showing their products and services. The event is $5 for members of the chamber and their guests.
Heating-cooling forum to be held by LPEA
La Plata Electric Association will hold its Heating-Cooling Workshop from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 21 at the utilitys headquarters in the Bodo Industrial Park.
Contractors, heating and air-conditioner installers and the general public are invited to the educational workshop that will explore the latest innovations in energy-efficiency space heating and cooling.
The workshop also looks at rebates available to those installing the new systems.

Guidos honored by Wine Spectator
Guidos Favorite Foods, 1201 Main Ave., has been honored by the Wine Spectator for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world.
Wine Spectator has honored the worlds best wine lists since 1981 as a way to encourage restaurants to improved their wine programs. Guidos was included in the Wine Spectator annual restaurant awards listing in the Aug. 31, 2010, issue.
Guidos is open from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Upper Pine fire chief receives award
The Special District Association of Colorado has honored Chief Richard Graeber from the Upper Pine River Fire Protection District with its 2010 Distinguished Manager Award.
The association presents this award to district managers who demonstrate leadership, dedication and service to his or her district. The award was announced at the associations annual conference in Keystone in September.
In the last five years, Graeber has helped the fire district transition from a volunteer fire department to a combination department with 24 staff members, including 19 full-time firefighters/EMTs.
The chief has also been instrumental in the adoption of a fire code in the town of Bayfield, and in creating the If We Cant Find You, We Cant Help You program encouraging homeowners to visibly number their homes, driveways and roads in rural areas.
LEED certified home to hold open house
The Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado announces that Galbraith Builders in conjunction with Galbraith Design has received a LEED Platinum certified rating from the U.S. Green Building Council for a custom home built for Rich and Jill Hoehlein. This is the highest rating attainable.
According to the Architectural Energy Corporation, the Hoehlein house is the first LEED-certified home in La Plata County and one of eight LEED Platinum certified homes in Colorado.
The home incorporates energy-efficiency strategies including passive solar design, and both photovoltaic and solar thermal panels.
An open house will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 30 at the home, 602 Powder Horn Trail in Trappers Crossing II.
